Questions about this quiz

What it costs, what it can and cannot tell you, and how it handles the cases the standard questions miss.

Is this quiz free, and do I need to give my email?

The 15 questions are free and there is nothing to sign up for before you start. After the last question, one form asks for your first name, last name, email and country, and you fill that in to open your result. The form carries an optional toggle, off unless you switch it on, offering to email you your results and doctor-visit checklist. Either way your stage, your hardest-hit symptom areas and the full checklist are on the result page itself, so nothing is held back for an email.

What we do with your details

Can I test myself for perimenopause?

You can check your signals, which is what this quiz does: it scores your answers on your cycle and symptoms and places you on a six-stage ladder. What you cannot do is confirm perimenopause with a test at home. At-home FSH kits measure a real hormone, but in perimenopause levels swing day to day, so a normal reading does not rule perimenopause out and a high one does not confirm it.

Do at-home hormone tests work?

How do doctors confirm perimenopause?

From your age, your symptoms and how your periods have changed, rather than from a lab value. Guidance says a hormone test is not needed to identify perimenopause once you are 45 or older, because the diagnosis is clinical. A blood test earns its place mainly when you are under 45 with symptoms, when early menopause is suspected, or when a doctor wants to rule out something else such as a thyroid problem. That is why this quiz asks about your cycle before it asks about anything else.

Can I take the quiz after a hysterectomy, or with an IUD?

Yes. Question 2 asks how your periods have been lately, and one of its six options is 'Hard to tell (IUD, ablation, or hysterectomy)'. Choose it and the scoring stops leaning on your cycle, because there is no cycle to read. It uses your symptom answers instead: a load of 12 or more out of a possible 36 across the twelve symptom questions returns 'Possibly early perimenopause, worth tracking', and anything lower returns 'Probably not yet'. Every other question works exactly as it does for anyone else.

What are the six stages the quiz can return?

From furthest along to earliest: Likely post-menopause; Late perimenopause; Mid perimenopause; Early perimenopause; Possibly early perimenopause, worth tracking; Probably not yet, here is what to watch. Your period pattern decides the stage first and your symptom load second, and each result reads the same caveat back to you: this is a signal check, not a diagnosis.
